We offer comprehensive practical guidance on all aspects of fishing for salmon and trout. The 3 day courses can cover river and lake fishing; wet-fly and dry-fly fishing: casting with single-handed and double-handed rods, including Spey-casting, roll-casting and casting into the wind; knot techniques; equipment and a wide range of practical guidance on river-craft, boat management, Fly Tying ,related Entomology with Stephen, Stevie and Pat and general fishing skills.
All courses maximize individual care and attention. After two or three days you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required for a long and successful fly-fishing life. All courses are residential and with accommodation in one of the most beautiful parts or Ireland.
The River Drowes is regarded as one of the premier salmon fisheries in the country and frequently produces the first Salmon of the season on opening day on January 1st. The river is some 5 and half miles in length with over 70 named pools. It has a mix of excellent fly water and slower deeper pools suitable for spinning and bait fishing. The river is very accessible with wooden walkways along much of its bank and good access from roads and bridges.
In addition to Salmon the Drowse holds a healthy stock of Wild Brown Trout including the famous Gillaroo. The drowse flows from Lough Melvin to the sea at Tullaghan. Where the river flows from Lough Melvin, at Lareen Estate we have 10 holiday cottages to cater for the needs of visiting anglers. The cottages range from 2 to 4 bed and can accommodate groups of between 2 and 8 people. Also on the Estate we have an on site, freezing and drying facilities and boats and engines are available for Lough Melvin.

Other great fishing opportunities, in the area include, sea trout fishing on the Erne Estuary, pike and coarse fishing on the Cashelard system and Glenade Lake and some of the country’s best deep sea fishing from Mullaghmore and Killybegs.
